Job Summary
The Project Controller for the Data Centre project is responsible for overseeing the financial, scheduling, and performance aspects of the project to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline. This role involves managing cost control, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. The Project Controller will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to provide accurate financial reporting, risk analysis, and schedule oversight for the construction and commissioning of the data centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure costs align with the approved financial plan. Identify and report variances promptly.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow analyses for project stakeholders and senior management.
- Schedule Oversight: Collaborate with schedulers to monitor project timelines, ensuring alignment with critical milestones and identifying potential delays.
- Earned Value Management (EVM): Implement EVM techniques to measure project performance, comparing planned versus actual progress and costs.
- Risk Analysis: Identify financial and scheduling risks, propose mitigation strategies, and maintain a risk register to address potential issues proactively.
- Change Control: Evaluate the financial and schedule impacts of scope changes, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
- Contract Administration: Monitor compliance with contract terms, manage invoicing, and ensure timely payments to vendors and contractors.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work with project teams, contractors, and clients to align on project objectives, budgets, and schedules, facilitating effective communication.
- Compliance: Ensure all project controls activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements specific to data centre construction.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, schedules, and project performance metrics for audits and reviews.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project control experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in data centre or technology-related facilities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in project control tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or SAP. Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial modeling is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with data centre construction processes, including MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, IT infrastructure, and commissioning.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial and performance data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex financial and schedule information to diverse stakeholders.
- Certifications: PMP, CCP (Certified Cost Professional), or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular visits to the data centre construction site.
- May require extended hours or occasional weekend work to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel to project sites or client meetings as needed.
